Despite the highly aggressive, paper towel industry PR machine continuing to do all it can to discredit hand dryers, it seems the general public are seeing beyond this. The global hand dryer market is reporting a very healthy 12.3% CAGR with this trend set to continue over the next 5 years. The incredidibly low energy consumption of modern hand dryers, combined with advanced hygiene standards, noise reduction and performance improvements are driving sales upwards, but more importantly the product eliminates the huge trail of industrial destruction and emissions created by the paper towel industry, while also generating considerable savings for the business consumer.
So what changes should we expect to see to the hand dryer market in 2020 and what will the top ten products be?
1. Dryflow G-Force mark II
Although this product has been around for a while, the addition of the plug and play system gives an added dimension of sustainability. When hand dryers have a fault they are typically replaced before trying to fix them as businesses don't want to pay an electrician to come out more than once. The G-Force mark II plugs into a safe backplate, meaning if a fault ever occurs it can be safely removed and returned for repair without the need for an electrician. This massively extends the life of the product and is fantastic for facilities that don't ever want the cost of an electricans call out. It also means that large sites can have a spare dryer than can be exchanged in seconds without an electrician unwiring and rewiring.
In addition to this great feature the G-Force mark II is a very reliable (500,000 uses plus motor life), is one of the quickest dryers on the market and can be adjusted to a noise level appropriate for the area. There is also a HEPA filter option and a ioniser option to kill bacteria and freshen the washroom. Given all this and the reasonable price, we feel the Dyflow G-Force mark II is the best dryer in 2020
2. The Misubishi Smart
The Mitsubishi SMART appeared on the market 3 years ago and Mitsubishi are yet to report a single fault! That is quite incredible considering the thousands of units that have been sold in the UK and Japan. Mitsubishi make quality products that are built to last, use very little energy and ultra hygienic (NSF approved) and perform very well. The Miutsubishi SMART performs as well as competing Dyson models while using less energy and costing 1/3 less. They are more function over form but at the end of the day this is a hand dryer not a car or luxury item, so a well priced, highly reliable, fast, energy efficient dryer with the best acoustic sound quality in its class should be applauded.
3. Dyson 9KJ
Dyson have redesigned the hand dryer into a form which will surely purplex those over a certain age and perhaps be quite attractive as play appartatus to young children! It's super cool modern design achieves a dry time as fast as the Ab14 while using less energy than the Dyson V and producing a low level, smotth sound. Dyson are the Apple of their industry, producing stylish and unique designs that intrigue the user. The price tag means they are not for everyone, but they are to be commended for their continous desire to evolve the market. Not usre how this one will do as yet!
Although not in the same class as the previous 3. If you want an excellent performing dryer at a rock bottom price the Ecodri Uniblade is an excellent choice for low traffic washrooms. Not much more to say thatn that, fast, low cost to run and reasonable noise output for under £80!
5. Slimline is all the range, as is ultra low energy consumption. These 2 fastors combine beautifually in the Dryflow Ecoslim. Just 10 cm deep, this elegant product can be adjusted from a rated power of just 180 watts to under 1kw on maximum power. HEPA filter and fragrance options too. An excellent choice where space is limited and energy reduction is your priority.
