How to install a wall mounted soap dispenser

How to install a wall mounted soap dispenser

How to install wall mounted soap dispenser

In 5 simple steps

Wall mounted soap dispensers have quickly surpassed bars of soap or individual bottles of hand soap due to their simplicity, convenience, space saving and long-term cost savings. They come in a plethora of design styles made from plastics and metals in various shapes and colours, meaning you can always find one to suit your businesses design style and aesthetic.

Installing them is really very simple, but you still may have asked yourself ‘how do i fit the wall mounted soap dispenser?’ So we thought we’d write up a quick guide so you can get yours installed and functional as soon as possible.

A quick note before we started – it may be tempting to use something like adhesive pads for a quicker install. And whole this works in the short term, due to the traffic and amount of usage it will see if placed in a commercial environment, the adhesive tape will ultimately end up failing, and could potentially cause further damage when it does. We strongly suggest using screws to securely fasten the soap dispenser to the wall in a more permanent fashion.

Tools you’ll need:

Step 1 – Planning

Location is key when mounting a soap dispenser. There is probably more to consider than is first realised. The most important thing to consider is who will be using it? If children or wheelchair users will need to access it, then it will need to go lower on the wall. Then consider refilling it – if placed directly below something, then the top may be obstructed and refilling difficult. You also have to make sure there is simply enough room for the dispenser to fit in the desired space.

Step 2 – Mark the position

If it’s not already separate, you will need to remove the backing panel from the soap dispenser so that you can see the screw holes. Using a pencil, you can then use these screw holes to mark on the wall where you will need to screw. Make sure you use a spirit level to get it level. The old adage of ‘measure twice, cut once’ is very true: make sure you double or even triple check your mounting points.

Step 3 – Start drilling

Once you are confident you have the correct hole, you can start to drill. If drilling through tiles, you can use masking tape to ensure the drill bit doesn’t slip. Also, when drilling through tiles start slowly and build up speed as it bites to ensure you don’t crack the tile. If drilling into brick or masonry you don’t have to worry about this as much, but both methods will need wall plugs to make sure the screws are more secure.

Step 4 – Mount the backing plate

The wall mounted soap dispenser should come with all the screws needed, so once you have your holes drilled, you can start to mount it. Using either the drill or a screw driver, line the pre-fabricated mounting holes in the backing panel with your drilled holes, and screw it in place.

Step 5 – Mount the soap dispenser

Once the backing plate is in place, it is just a case of mounting the soap dispenser to it. This should slot easily into place, and once you’ve done that, your soap dispenser should be good to go! Always fill it up and give it a test before you walk away, just to double check everything.

Other FAQs

How to remove wall mounted soap dispenser

This should be a simple process if the dispenser is mounted correctly. The first step is to remove the main unit from the backing panel. At this point the screws should be exposed, so you can unscrew these, and the backing panel will come away from the wall. There will be some holes left from the screws and wall plugs, which you may need to fill depending on your future plans.

Is it safe to mount a wall soap dispenser plasterboard

While not as ideal is mounting it in masonry, it is possible. If you can, find a stud behind the plasterboard and mount the dispenser onto those. If you can’t find a stud to use, then make sure you use heavy duty hollow wall anchors to keep the soap dispenser secure.

If you’ve followed these simple steps you should have a fully functional wall mounted, refillable soap dispenser in no time. If you need advice on any other washroom supplies, just get in contact with the team at Hand Dryers UK here.
